Timing: Isolated storms will develop by the late afternoon across west-central Iowa. Storms will become more widespread as the evening goes on, and are expected to track over the same areas for several hours.

Threats: The main threat for severe storms Friday afternoon into the evening will be damaging winds, followed by the heavy rain threat, due to the expected training of storms.

Iowa forecast rainfall amounts

Rainfall amounts will range from 1 to 3 inches from west-central to south-central Iowa, with the highest amounts forecast to fall across southern Iowa.
