Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Portions of Iowa
Low pressure will edge south into Iowa late tonight and Friday. This will cause a period of snow from late tonight into Friday morning across northern Iowa. This combined with strong winds will result in a period of hazardous travel around the morning commute across the north. Though snowfall amounts will only reach an inch or two, lower visibility and slick roads could make for hazardous early-day travel. Due to this threat of hazardous road conditions, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Iowa.
Timing: Snow will begin across northwest Iowa around midnight tonight and will continue to track to the southeast. Snow will continue through Friday morning before coming to an end by middle afternoon Friday. The winter weather advisory for northern Iowa will be in effect until mid-day Friday.
Amounts & Impacts: Snowfall accumulations of up to two inches will be expected. In addition, strong winds gusting up to 45 mph at times will reduce visibility.
