A cold front will sweep through the state starting early Wednesday morning, bringing with it widespread showers and a few thunderstorms.
Light rain showers will begin early in the morning and will continue through the evening hours, with a few remaining across southeast Iowa into Thursday morning. By Wednesday afternoon, a couple of thunderstorms may be possible. At this time, the severe threat is very low.
Rainfall amounts will range from a tenth of an inch to as much as three-quarters of an inch across the state. The heaviest rainfall amounts will be across east-central to southeast Iowa.
After the rain clears the state on Thursday, temperatures will return back to seasonal averages, with highs in the 40s and 50s.
